PAST WORK
Overview
The development of a
DNA-based identification system is critically reliant
upon three factors. Firstly, it must be possible to obtain
the target DNA from any species. Secondly, the sequence
information must be easily analyzed. Finally, the information
content of the target sequence must be sufficient to enable
the successful identification of all species. The following
sections summarize the background information which indicates
that COI-5' has high potential as the core for a DNA-based
identification system.
